Wise Owl Hostels Tokyo

A new hostel opened in 2016 near Tokyo Station

A newly opened hostel located 20 minutes walk or one train stop away from Tokyo Station, Wise Owl Hostels offers affordable accommodation that doesn't cut back on comfort or excellent facilities. The hostel is a cheap alternative to Tokyo's other often expensive accommodation, provides clean facilities that are considerate on all details of your stay. Being right outside Hatchobori Station (one stop away from Tokyo on the JR Keiyo Line) makes it easy to access and great after a long day out in Tokyo - the feeling of not having to walk further after getting off your train is the best!

Since Wise Owl Hostels opened just this year, everything is newly furbished meaning all facilities very clean and the interior design very modern. The hostel has 6 floors, with the reception on the first, rooms (and toilets and bathrooms) from the 2nd to 5th floor. The 6th floor is an open area with kitchen, laundry, computers free for use, and a vending machine. The dormitory rooms are split into male and female rooms, with options of sleeping in a 6 bed room or 10 bed room. I stayed in the 10 bed female dormitory, and there was plenty of space to go around. The room was quite big with a large open space to place your suitcases. The bed was spacious with plenty of room to sleep in and put your smaller bags with you. The bed also came with a locked storage box which was great for me to store my laptop in during the day, without having to worry about it being stolen. My favorite design point about the beds was the shoe box incorporated into the bunk bed stairs, where you could store your shoes and swap them for the hostel slippers!

The toilets were separated into male and female, but the shower room was shared. However, with the 5th floor bathrooms there were 3 showers: one for females, one for males, and one mixed. The bathroom and toilets were kept extremely clean, and they provide you with all the basic necessities: bath towel (which can be swapped for a new one daily if you want), shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and hairdryer. The shower rooms gave you a multi level shelf to place all your things, and the room even had a light that lit up above the door to let others know the shower was occupied.

The shared space on the 6th floor was also kept very clean. The kitchen in the corner was small, but had all the equipment you would need to cook. The vending machine was great (¥100 bottled water compared to the outside vending machines selling at ¥110!), and there was even an iron and ironing board to iron your clothes if you needed! The laundry room has two washing machines and two dryers, and costs ¥300 for a wash (laundry powder provided) and ¥100 for 30 minutes in the dryer.

All the staff speak English, are friendly and ready to help. The hostel even goes a bit beyond with offering drink specials to the hostel residents at their bar "Howl" found on their basement floor (buy one drink, and get another for free!). Overall, Wise Owl Hostels in Tokyo provided a great stay in the city because of its affordable cost and great facilities that made the stay extremely comfortable and very convenient in all ways.
