One of a cluster of four temples close to each other near Shimizu station, Kojoji has pleasant, restful grounds, with lots of greenery and some serene Buddhist statues. Then under the eaves of the main hall there are a lot of impressive, detailed carvings: airborne lions, birds perching on branches, and a fierce-looking dragon ready to spring down and attack. It's a nice area to spend an hour strolling around all the temples, taking in the tranquil atmosphere.
