Planning to visit Akita from Tokyo on May 2, 2017. Interested in visiting the shrine of Our Lady in Akita. Then view the Cherry blossoms (where?). Would like to stay overnight in on onsen ryokan. Can you please give suggestions based on this itinerary.

I suggest kakunodate, you can get there by Train or car

I met the guys at the Prefecture office and they know lots about Akita! If you are staying near the Hotel Alpha Inn Akita the tourist information center is a short walk away.
